Synopsis 'Physiology of Sport and Exercise, Fourth Edition,' presents the complex relationship between human physiology and exercise in a format that is superior to that in previous editions. It includes new and updated topics as well as a reorganized structure to provide a more focused and effective presentation of concepts.

The leading textbook for undergraduate exercise physiology courses, Physiology of Sport and Exercise, is back in an updated fourth edition that is better than ever after extensive external reviews of the previous edition by nine content experts. Renowned authors Jack Wilmore and David Costill add the expertise of W. Larry Kenney to bring a fresh perspective to the organization and content of the fourth edition. Building on the positive feedback of previous editions, Physiology of Sport and Exercise, Fourth Edition, presents the complex relationship between human physiology and exercise in a format that is more comprehensive for students than other comparable texts. Ease of reading and understanding is the cornerstone for this popular text, and students will experience a depth and breadth of content balanced with unique and effective learning features: -Online learning.

Introductory level material My professor is using this book for an advanced level exercise physiology class and for that level the book is inadequate. If you have any background with exercise physiology and a good understanding of it, this isn't necessarily the book for you.

It explains many aspects of physiology that are not directly related to exercise physiology that basically serve as a waste of time in some ways. If you are new to the area of exercise physiology or looking for a book that simplifies some of the topics, this is the book for you. It does present it in a more simplistic format that is a lot easier to comprehend than other books that I come across. Overall if it labeled Introduction to Exercise Physiology, I would probably call it a Good to Excellent book because it covers many of the major topics, but not in an advanced way.
