Hi, From past few weeks, I am getting an error - 'Microsoft OneNote stopped working', whenever I open my OneNote 2013. I tried repairing OneNote installation but the issue is not solved yet. Hello Abhilash, Thank you for posting on Microsoft Community.

In order to resolve this issue let us know the following:. Since when are you facing this issue?. Did it coincide with the download or deployment of any program or update? In the meantime, let us check if you are able to open and work fine with OneNote 2013 in the Clean Boot Mode. Clean Boot mode would disable all the non-Microsoft applications and services on the computer which could also be one of the reasons for this issue in OneNote 2013 crashing and will help you narrow down to the cause of the issue. Refer the article below to start the computer in clean boot: After restarting your computer in Clean Boot mode launch OneNote 2013 and check if you are able to work normally without OneNote 2013 crashing. If the issue resolves while accessing OneNote 2013 in the Clean Boot environment then follow the steps as mentioned in the above article under the following title ‘ If you could not run a program before you performed the clean boot’ which is below the option What is next when I have a clean boot environment?

Try Microsoft Edge A fast and. Why doesn’t the screen clipping tool work anymore? If you have a desktop version of OneNote, such as OneNote 2016 or 2013.

Note: Ensure to restart the computer normally after completing the above steps which will return the computer back to normal mode. I hope the above steps help. Please reply if you need further assistance and send us the above requested information. Hi, Extremely sorry for the late response.

I was out of town. I tried clean reboot of my machine. But, still I am facing the issue. I checked the event viewer and below is the error response. Same as the previous one.

Onenote Stops Working

Event log for OneNote crash is as follows: I'm not sure how to add a screen shot. Ctrl-V doesn't work. I have the same general issue going on. After 10 seconds I get Microsoft OneNote has stopped working. I also get a second pop up that adds 'A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.

And it gives me the option to close the program (which has already crashed) or to Debug. I tried opening in Safe Mode and this does not resolve the issue. I tried repairing Office 2013 via the Control Panel and that did not resolve the issue. What I think triggered if for me was I was editing a few OneNote pages (in note notebook and tab) across my PC, iPhone and iPad (while on a cross country flight). When all three tried to synch it now prevents me from getting into OneNote 2013 on my PC.

Although I can get to it from my mobile devices, and OneDrive, not being able to get to my PC is messing me up. Any ideas on how to fix this?

I put on all the MSFT patches too, for both Windows and did a 'fix' of office online via the control panel. That did not help either. What I finally did was type in the RUN box onenote.exe / safeboot which I learned about in this thread: I was a little worried about what might happen to my data. But what this did was start OneNote with all notebooks closed, and then when you reopen your note books, it reloads them all from OneNote online / Onedrive.

This worked for me. But I don't know what would happen in this scenario if someone did not have OneNote Online. I still think this was caused by a syncing issue. You would think OneNote would be able to handle multiple devices editing the same page better than it did for me. Good luck all!
